Perhaps the most outstanding cultural festival in Katsina is the Sallah ceremony. This is witnessed twice annually by hundred of thousand of people from all walks of life and from all parts of the world. the events take place after the Muslim fasting of Ramadan and during the Hajj (pilgrimage). these ceremonies are universally known as Eil-el-Kabir and Eil-el-Fitr. the Sallah is an incredible display of rich heritage through dancing, music , horsemanship, and wearing of local dresses. it portrates the people`s rich cultural values and it reminds them of the splendid past. from the richly  attired Emir and his District Heads to the warriors carrying old time weapon to the royal musicians and dancers. the Sallah gives an account of a people who have had a very noble past. It showed how organized the Hausa State were.Current and successive Governments had been doing all they could to boost this all encompassing tourist attraction. Besides, the two Eids the people also celebrate the Eid-el-Maulud, which is the equivalent of the Christian Christmas.It marks the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The setting is similar to the normal two annual Sallah, though the timing is different.
